ABOUT NIAMH

FOUNDER AND DESIGNER

I’m Niamh, a designer and copy writer committed to helping busy business owners by simplifying their web design process — empowering them and their business to thrive.

I know how chaotic running a business can feel at times, but your website does not and should not have to feel the same.

I don’t believe in function over form (or vice versa). I’m adamant both are attainable with the right tools and I’m here to give you those tools in order to create the site of your dreams.

I have the design eye, but I also have the strategy.

My Timeline

2017: Graduated from the Univeristy of Exeter with a BSc in Biological Sciences (with proficiency in Japanese)

2018: Did a ski season, fell in love with the mountains, and decided to move to the French Alps.

2019: COVID hit and I lost my hospitality based job. Built my first website and blog for my COVID side-hustle (it was selling homemade soap in case you’re wondering!)

2020: Took a job as a Virtual Assistant for a physiotherapy and wellness company, where I trained in marketing and copy writing.

2021: Built and launched a website for the physio company and realised “hey, I really enjoy this!”

2021-23: Worked for and with lifestyle and wellness companies building their websites and managing their marketing, often while digital nomading my way around Europe.

2023: Took a break from design and marketing to travel to Japan for a ski season (where I worked as a private ski instructor for a concierge and hospitality business). I was only supposed to stay in Japan for 5 months, but I ended up not leaving!

2024: After several months break (and a whole lot of snow) I began designing again, this time for Japan-based businesses.

2025: Inspired by the nature, design and hospitality in Japan I discovered my ikigai and created Folláine Design.

WHAT DOES FOLLÁINE MEAN?

Folláine (pronounced foll-awe-nyeh) is the Irish word for wellness.

As an Irish lass who works with wellness and lifestyle businesses and whose middle name is Áine, it was the perfect fit.

In 2023 I moved to Japan. I was only supposed to stay for 5 months but haven’t left since. I felt captivated by the efficiency and simplicity of design in Japan, yet every detail is counted for at the same time. Whether it’s baskets to put your bags in at restaurants so they don’t sit on the dirty floor, or the trains that always run on time — always — the thought and intentionality that goes into every element of a customers experience inspired me.
